Virtual Addiction Medicine (VAM) Clinic

Provided by Interior Health

Accepts referrals for assessment and treatment of Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) and Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD).
The Virtual Addiction Medicine (VAM) Clinic provides rapid access to addiction medicine specialists to support people who need help with substance use. VAM clinic offers a full range of opioid agonist treatment (OAT), including buprenorphine-naloxone (Suboxone®), methadone, and slow-release oral morphine (SROM / Kadian®). The clinic also offers medicine to help reduce cravings for alcohol and to reduce how much or how often patients drink.

VAM supports Interior Health Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) locations throughout the Interior, as well as First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) and First Nations Health Service Organizations (FNHSO) providers in the Interior.

How VAM works:
  • The team works with the patient to assess your individual needs, develop a treatment plan, and help patients achieve their goals.
  • The VAM clinic is virtual, meaning your appointments will take place over the phone no matter where you are in the Interior Health region
  • The VAM clinic does not provide long-term care. Once you are comfortable with how your treatment is going, we will help you find health services in your community
  • If you need support with substance use treatment, withdrawal management, or counselling, please contact your nearest Interior Health Mental Health and Substance Use Centre at 310-MHSU (6478) or fill out the self referral form HERE.
